How can I help?
We graciously welcome all help and support in our efforts to drive away hunger in our communities.
Here’s how you can help to make a difference …
Donate Food
Food donations are always welcomed. Whether it’s by purchasing a pre-packaged grocery bag at one of our grocery store locations, or donating just one can, it all helps.
If you go to our list of participating food banks, many of them have links to their websites, and on many of those, you may see a list of most-needed items.
If not, here are some of the most wanted items by local food banks: cereal, peanut butter, pasta and pasta sauce, children’s pasta, canned fruits and vegetables, rice, canned stew, canned tuna or salmon. In addition, hygiene products may also be in demand, including toothbrushes, toothpaste, etc.
Donate Money
Cash donations are important to our campaign, and in some cases, are a very efficient way to contribute. The food banks will often have discounts available to them, so they can take the money you donate and often turn it into more food than you might be able to get with the same money.
Another advantage to cash donations, is that you can be sure that the money will go to purchase exactly what is most needed at your local food bank.
Donate Time
This campaign is a true volunteer-based community effort. Donations or time and expertise is always needed, and always appreciated. Please contact your local food bank if you’d like to help volunteer.
Spread the Word
As we get ready to launch, it’s important to spread the word about Build a Mountain of Food.
You can help by letting people know about the campaign, by sharing news about the campaign on social media, and taking the time to Like, Share, Re-Tweet our posts, tweets, and videos … it really does make a huge difference.
